How to Perfect Your Summer Skin Routine

So it is almost May. This means that the summer is coming up soon and if you're a skincare junkie you know what this means- a new skincare regimen. During the summer your skin changes. Generally, your skin gets oilier which can lead to breakouts. Also with the sun being out more, it can increase the risk of skin damage. So to prepare you for the summer, I am going to give you advice on how to change your skincare routine for the summer.

The first thing you should do is change the number of products you use and your moisturizer. As I stated before, the summer heat usually results in clogged pores. To combat this, try to lower the number of products you use. The more products you use, the higher risk of clogged pores. Also, try to use a lighter moisturizer. Moisturizers with a thicker consistency are typically used to hold in more moisture during the colder months. However, in the summer your skin produces its oil. Using a moisturizer with a lighter consistency can reduce oily skin. Also if you have oily skin you can even choose to opt out of a moisturizer. Although this may not seem ideal, most sunscreen products already have moisturizing properties. Therefore, a moisturizer is not a necessity. This leads to my next point- sunscreen is essential.

If you're not wearing sunscreen now, you need to in the summer. It is recommended that you should wear sunscreen with an SPF 30 or higher. However, I think that if you have fairer skin, you should wear sunscreen with an SPF 50. Also, sunscreen should be reapplied every 2 hours. Look for a broad-spectrum sunscreen. Broad-spectrum sunscreens protect the skin from UVA and UVB rays. It gives the ultimate protection. So as the summer arises, keep these tips in mind. Less clogged pores and protected skin can help you get that summer glow.

  1. YES! Moisturizers are severely underrated, they can do wonders for your skin and are one of the easier facial products to use. I didn't know about the thicker consistency before reading this post but it makes a lot of sense. I appreciate that you reminded people about reapplying sunscreen, especially when you're sweating it's important to reapply it's sunscreen not glue lol. I also found it helpful that you suggested cutting back on the amount of products most skin care posts I've found are sponsored so they try to convince you that you need to buy all these products it's important to stick to the basics sometimes. :) thank you
