Introduction to the World of my Skin

So I’ve decided to make this blog about skincare because I have recently chosen to go on a skincare journey. I’m going, to be honest; I have never really had 'bad skin'.  When I say 'bad skin' I mean acne-prone skin, cystic acne, fungal acne, etc. All of the stuff that most people experience during their high school years. However, I did struggle with an extremely uneven skin tone. Just like anyone else, this problem did develop in high school around freshman/Sophomore year. I made the mistake of getting into makeup and not using it properly aka never washing it off my face. I  know that sounds extremely disgusting because it is and now that I look back on it I would never do that now. Although I learned my lesson my junior year of high school by drastically improving my facial hygiene and learning how to use makeup properly, my uneven skin tone did not change. It still has not changed.

At the beginning of quarantine, March of 2020, I stumbled upon a famous YouTuber called Hyram. This is when I began my journey. I was able to learn a lot more than what products should go on your face. Hyram broke down the products by the ingredients. He listed which ingredients were good and which ingredients were terrible. He also talked about the benefits of each ingredient and what skincare concerns they addressed. Finally, he also broke down the different skin types and the ingredients you should use for your skin type. After watching him, I felt confident enough to buy a list of products that he recommended. This is where I made my second mistake with my face.

While some of the products worked for me, some of them didn’t. I eventually learned that I have very sensitive skin and products with high potency cause my skin to break out terribly. I made the mistake of not researching enough.  Even though Hyram does rely on facts, he is biased just as anyone would be. I solely relied on the information that Hyram provided. Consequently, I didn’t look at any other YouTubers, blogs, articles, or any other information on skincare. After my allergic reaction, I became discouraged with my skincare journey; I went back to a regular face wash and moisturizer.

Fast forward to now, I have decided to restart my journey with a whole new line of products and more information about skincare. So this blog will be talking about my skin journey over the next few weeks. I will also use this blog to discuss some of the information that I learned about skincare including skin type, products, and ingredients. So if you want to learn more about my skin journey stay tuned!
